Marcella E. Franczkowski, Assistant State Superintendent for the Maryland State Department of Education Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Services, was honored by the Harbour School, a private school individualized education services for students with disabilities ages 6-21, grades one through twelve.

Maryland Board of Education announces Karen Salmon as the new Maryland Schools Superintendent
At it’s meeting on May 24, the Maryland Board of Education announces Karen Salmon as the new Maryland Schools Superintendent. Her title will be Acting Superintendent through June; her full term starts July 1st.

Maryland Special Education State Advisory Committee
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires that every state establish and maintain an advisory panel to advise the state’s Department of Education regarding the education of children with disabilities. The Maryland Special Education State Advisory Committee (SESAC), serves as the advisory panel to the Assistant State Superintendent of the Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Services.
