For the eighth year, World Read Aloud Day motivates children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words and creates a community of readers taking action to show the world that the right to literacy belongs to all people. World Read Aloud Day is celebrated by millions of people in the 50 states, territories and the District of Columbia and more than 100 countries worldwide thanks to people like you who participate and spread the word across the globe!
To help all families harness the power of reading aloud, Scholastic and LitWorld are providing free resources for kids, families and educators to help spread the joy of reading aloud and plan their own read aloud celebrations. The same Kids & Family Reading Report shows the frequency of reading aloud to young children 5-7 days a week has increased since 2014 among parents with kids ages 3-5 (55% to 62%) but there is still much work to be done.
