It is both an honor and a privilege to present the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), Division of Early Intervention and Special Education Services (DEI/SES) 2019 Professional Learning Institute (PLI), Elevate Performance, November 5-7, held at the Clarion Resort Fontainebleau Hotel, located at 10100 Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Maryland. This three-day event for Maryland’s early intervention and special education leaders and stakeholder community will provide a national, State, and local lens to narrow the gap for students with disabilities as we elevate our implementation of the DEI/SES Strategic Plan, Moving Maryland Forward.
The Institute features more than 100 unique professional learning opportunities. The sessions and presentations will showcase effective, evidence-based strategies, practices, and tools for system building within the strategic imperatives of Early Childhood, Access, Equity and Progress, and Secondary Transition. Each participant can customize a unique learning experience that encompasses both innovation and fidelity and is tailored to their work to support children and families.
Over 400 participants are expected to join the DEI/SES. Local early intervention and special education leaders and strategic implementation teams will participate alongside members of the Maryland State Board of Education, Maryland legislators, local Superintendents of Schools and Chief Academic Officers, MSDE executive leadership, national technical assistance providers, representatives of the U.S. Department of Education, Institutes of Higher Education partners, Family Support Services coordinators, and chairs of the DEI/SES State steering, advisory, and advocacy committees and councils.
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you at the Institute!
Marcella E. Franczkowski, M.S.
